Maximum of 85 riders per field (except Cat 5/Citizens which is 50 riders) so register early. Course description.The road race course for all categories except Juniors, is a 40 mile undulating course with two (2) major climbs and several long and short hills with approximately 5000 feet of climbing. It is a point-to-point course that starts in downtown Marshall, NC, and finishes at the top of Walnut Creek Road (a mountain top finish). Riders will need to ride back to the parking/start area on their own by descending down Walnut Creek Road on the back side of the mountain. The ride back to the parking/start area is approximately 8 miles long. Small gearing for this event is highly recommended. See course map and profile page as well as a cue sheet. Also see the map and profile of the 8 mile return to the parking/start area. Juniors Road Race: The Juniors will compete on a new 17 mile road course that is part of the original 40 mile road course. They will start in Marshall and their finish will be at the intersection of Hwy 213 and Calvin Edney Rd (NC 1605). The couse starts with a long climb out of Marshall followed with a series of rolling hills and finishes on a wide and flat road section just outside Mars Hill, NC. Riders may choose to ride back to Marshall by following Hwy 213 or have someone pick them up at the finish line. Parking is available at the "Park and Ride" area just north of the Hwy 213 and Calvin Edney Rd intersection. See course map and profile page as well as a cue sheet. Parking/Registration: both will be located on the west side of the French Broad River on Blennerhassett Island immediatly to the right after crossing the bridge. Follow the signs. Day of registration will open at 7:00AM and will close 30 minutes prior to the race. |
